There was a huge difference between the north and south parts of the main ridge. Towards south there was no snow, there were small spots of yellow grass and one could see far away. Northwards (to the left in the picture) one can see nothing! Even on the main ridge line the wind blowing from south was dissipating the fog so it was only under the ridge line
